After the hair transplant operation, you can wash your hair on the second day, but you need to be careful. It is important to wash your hair specially and carefully for the first 15 days. After 15 days, the hair will recover and will not need special care.
The first 48 hours after the hair transplant operation are very important. Since the transplanted hair follicles have not yet attached to the hair tissue, but are only fixed with a blood clot, you should protect your hair from impacts and friction. For the first three days, you should avoid sudden movements, do not bend your head forward, and do not lie face down. These movements can cause swelling in the forehead, eyes, and face due to the serum used during the hair transplant.
First Wash
The first wash is performed 2 days after the hair transplant operation. The washing process is usually done by the operation center or the patient himself.
The purpose of the washing process is to clean the blood clots that form in the areas where the hair follicles are taken and the channels are opened. Washing begins 24-48 hours after the operation and continues until the crust tissue is gone (7-10 days). Washing is done once a day. If the crusts are not cleaned within a week, washing can be done twice a day.
If the crusts (blood clots) do not go away within 10 days, it is recommended that you contact your surgeon. Gentle scrubbing on the 3rd-4th day of washing can help the healing process. However, avoid picking the crusts as this can cause the transplanted hair follicles to fall out.
One Month After Hair Transplant
For one month after hair transplantation, avoiding the sea, Turkish bath, sauna, direct sunlight and intense exercise protects the donor area from infections and ensures healthier growth of the transplanted hair follicles.
